Ha Ha Ha Sir Alex. The greatest mind game of them all…
Ha ha ha. Fergie, you fooled us totally. Giuseppe Rossi will not be the next man out of Old Trafford after all.
“Giuseppe scored nine goals in 16 matches for Parma and the consensus is that he kept them up,” the manager declared in a coversation with a hack from the official website. “The lads going away proved themselves.
“Hopefully now we have a strong enough pool of players. They will develop better with us. They may play more regularly away on loan, but training with us and being part of the squad brings them on immeasurably.
“The really big test last season was when we got the injuries in March. When we got to the AC Milan game, we didn’t have enough freshness in the team to prepare for a semi final. That was a blow. We hope now that if we do get those injuries again, this time we have better back-up.”
The manager looked to have prepared the way for Rossi’s departure when he declared just last week that he was in a “situation” over the player’s future, with Parma poised to hand over more than £6 million for the Italian Under 21 international.
Now Rossi will be welcomed back into the first team squad next season, raising more doubts about the future of Alan Smith, who still interests Middlesbrough.
Well done Sir Alex on the greatest of your mind games, this time played on United fans.
